1.  What do I send with my query?

 

A 1-2 page synopsis and the first three chapters of your manuscript as Word or rtf attachments.  If they are not attachments, your query will not be considered.  Please tell how you heard of me and how many points of view tell your story.  Also provide the promotion you plan to do once your book is published.


2.  How soon will you respond to my query?

You will receive an e-mail acknowledging receipt within 48 hours.  If you don't receive it, contact me at query@blueridgeagency.com.

3.  How long will evaluation of my query take?

Evaluation of your query will now be completed within two months.

4.  How should my manuscript be formatted?

Double spaced with a 5 spaces indent. 
Each chapter must begin on a new page.
Point of views must be separated.  If changing point of view within a chapter, place ***** on a separate line before new point of view.  If changing location or time, just leave 1 blank line.
Spell check your manuscript.
Your manuscript should have a header with your title, your last name, and the page count.
Your cover page should have your name, address, phone and e-mail.
Your cover page should have the word count.
Your synopsis should have the genre.
Your synopsis should have a header with your title, your last name, and the page count.
Your manuscript should NOT be told in omniscient point of view. If it is, please do not query me.

5.  How long should my novel be?

Large publishers are looking for a minimum of 75,000 words.  Smaller publishers will accept less.  Manuscripts should not be much over 100,000 words.

6.  Do you accept previously published works?

No.  Publishers are looking for original work.
